Modeselektor : Art & Cash

Modeselektor is an electronic music band formed in Berlin, featuring Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary. The group draws heavily from IDM, glitch, electro and hip hop. In an interview the group said regarding their sound: Happy metal, hard rap, country-ambient, Russian crunk. We dont like it if people tag us as being a certain style or school or scene or whatever. We dont really care about all that.

Book Review: Tuesdays with Morrie

Tuesdays with Morrie. A heart warming story about an old man, a young man and life’s greatest lesson.

It took me less than 3 days to finish off the book.

All of us have someone we look up to, someone we idolize, someone seek advice from. It could be your mother, your father, your friend or some of us, our pets. For Mitch Albom, it was his college professor. After years chasing the never ending top, Mitch saw Morrie on a TV interview which struck him. He promised to keep in touch and it’s been years since. The journey then begun.

Here are some of my favourite quotes from the book :

Fallen princesses : Dina Goldstein

“…and they lived happily ever after”. How much of this is true? We see fairy tale characters as they are saved by the knight in shining armour, get married to their prince charming but what really and we mean REALLY happens after that. No one knows.

“Fallen Princesses” place Fairy Tale characters in modern day scenarios.  In all of the images the Princess is planced in an environment that articulates her conflict. The “…happily ever after” is replaced with a realistic outcome and addresses current issues.

Check out Dina’s awesome work here

Creative Ads Made to Stop You Smoking

When a smoker runs into another anti-smoking ad, often the reaction is – “yes maybe it is cool, but it won’t make me quit – it’s a waste of time and money”. Well of course, one single ad won’t change your mind in a second, but it does create the awareness that smoking is a BAD thing, and when a message is being repeated over an over again – it find its place somewhere deep inside your unconscious mind.

It takes time, but some day it may build up, and it will seem as though as YOU have an idea – “smoking is really a stupid thing to do, I quit!”. What may seem as your own idea, could be a huge job of those creative antismoking ads you used to see everywhere.
