Super Sunglasses From Space!

Attention Mad Men addicts:

You can now wear your obsession on the bridge of your nose.  The kids at Retro Superfuture have some new shades with arched rims, semi-circled resin, and wingtip sides that put you closer to Don Draper and Peter Campbell than anyone else at Sterling Cooper.

Of course, maybe now that the Big Boys have set up their own ad shop for Season Four, you could put these shades on, walk into their corporate alma mater, and score your own gig… or at least a date with Peggy Olsen.  (Wait, would you actually date Peggy Olsen?  Too neurotic for you?  Fill-in-your-own secretary instead.)

Subversive x Doc Martens

There are many things floating around Miami’s Art Basel fair that bill themselves as “art.”  There are paintings and photographs by Ryan McGuinness and Ryan McGinley, and probably other guys named Ryan who live in New York.  There are performance pieces and dances, and girls in bikinis who want their pictures taken so they say they’re a performance piece or a dancer.  But maybe our favorite thing that’s “art” at Art Basel is this pair of shoes.  A collaboration between Doc Martens and Subversive Jewelry, you can buy them from a big high-concept vending machine in the Mondrian Hotel.  And then you can wear them into the ocean or pool to break them in.  It’s a total win-win – and you can pretend it’s a performance piece, too.

Chinese Gadget Converts iPod Touch into Apple iPhone

Apple iPod Touch users, no need to feel left out of the party! There’s a new gadget just for you.

A Chinese firm has developed a special protective case — known as the “Apple Peel” — for converting the iPod Touch into a cell phone, state media said Tuesday.

The Apple Peel 520, from Shenzhen-based Yosion Technology — discussed and debated for months on geeky blogs — is reportedly going to become available this week in online stores for sale to Chinese users. It targets aspiring owners of Apple’s trendy iPhone who balk at paying the full price for the cell phone.

The Peel attaches to the iPod Touch like a protective case, but has a dock connector, an extended battery and a SIM card slot, enabling users to make phone calls and send text messages, the Beijing News said.
